Cu Chulainn and Achilles were both more, and less, than their civilizations’ ideal heroes. The legends of Cu Chulainn and Achilles, composed hundreds of miles apart, and having no direct influence on each other, were much the same. Both pioneered the path of a hero for whom there is no surprise, even in death. Both were masters of the arts of war, unmatched by the best of foes. Both possessed extraordinary powers, equipment, and egos.

These warriors inspired stories such as:

  • The Aeneid
  • The Odyssey
  • Beowulf
  • The Song of Roland
  • Aurthurian Ledgend
