Art -- P10
One Semester
Prerequisite: None
Basic elements and techniques of design, composition and drawing are emphasized in
this course. The student is also offered the opportunity to work creatively in water
color, tempera, pastel and many other media. The student learns to express himself
and understand the basic application of media.
Drawing I -- P21
One Semester
Prerequisite: Art I
Techniques and skills of drawing in various media. Students are given the opportunity
to develop their skills while exploring the possibilities of creative self-expression.
Attention is given to drawing from life.
Drawing II -- P22
One Semester
Prerequisite: Drawing I
Continuation of Drawing I - the student is encouraged to select an area of drawing
for intensive concentration. The instructor will assign specific problems to insure
reasonable progress.
Painting I/Techniques -- P31
One Semester
Prerequisite: Art I
Techniques and skill attained in Art Design are consolidated and expanded. The student
works creatively and in greater depth in painting media such as oils, tempera, watercolor,
and mixed media. Students are given more freedom of choice of subject matter and style.
Painting II/Studio -- P32
One Semester
Prerequisite: Painting I/Technique
A continuation of Painting I - the student is encouraged to select a media for intensive
concentration. The student is responsible for research, reading and experimentation
within his chosen area of concentration. The instructor will assign specific problems
based upon the individual progress of the student.
Crafts I -- P51
One Semester
Prerequisite: None
Basic elements and techniques of design, composition and structure are emphasized
in this course. The student learns to construct, through proper use of tools and techniques,
products in wood, clay, metal, paper and other media. The student learns to express
himself in basic structure, function and application of craft procedure.
Crafts I -- I P52
One Semester
Prerequisite: Crafts I
This course allows for further study of the basic elements and techniques of design,
composition, and structure. It is basically three-dimensional in nature as the students
continues to construct products in paper, wood, clay, metal and other media.
Jewelry I/Techniques -- P71
One Semester
Prerequisite: Crafts I
Students will explore the methods of working with various metals in the construction
of jewelry. Techniques of soldering, welding, cutting and casting will be presented.
Jewelry II/Studio -- P72
One Semester
Prerequisite: Jewelry I/Techniques
A continuation of Jewelry I with the student encouraged to explore several media in
order to develop a competency and continuity of expression.
