Rich East Gay Straight Alliance

The name of this organization is the Rich East Gay/Straight Alliance , abbreviated as GSA .   This is an organization that supports GLBTQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning) students, staff and Rich Township community members and provides a free and open environment with no discrimination based on sexual orientation.   Any person, no matter what orientation, can belong; the GSA does not exclude anyone.   Members, upon first attendance, must sign a privacy contract.   Activities that the GSA participates in include, but are not limited to, the AIDS Walk in Downtown Chicago, game nights with other local GSAs, movie nights, holiday parties, and creating informative displays for the school and Park Forest Village Hall.   If you are interested in learning more about this award winning club, see our sponsor, Ms. Stadt, our 2007-08 officers: Lindsay Simon (President), Tyler Murrillo (Vice President), Mercedes Callopy (Secretary), Erich Zett (Treasurer), or attend a meeting on Tuesdays at 3:15 in room 233.

The purpose of the Rich East Gay/Straight Alliance is as follows:

•  to create a healthy, supportive environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning and straight students, staff and Rich Township community members;

•  to increase physical and emotional safety for all GLBTQS students, staff, and Rich Township community members;

•  to value and affirm GLBT history and provide educational resources for the Rich Township community through text, technology, and teaching;

•  to have lots of fun.
